Happy Days Are Gone Again

There is a grave threat in the White House. If he is not thrown out or otherwise constrained in the near future, national security will inevitably become a top priority for Americans, forced by tragedy, not just to give up “piña coladas and getting caught in the rain,” but to survive a Dark Age into which their president led them. (No Mr. President, You are the ‘Serious Threat to Everybody’s Future’)

“I think this is an administration that, we’re coming to find out, is one of almost unimaginable incompetence…” – Brit Hume

“Obama is not worse than we thought. Liberals are worse than we thought.” – Christopher Chantrill

It’s fortunate for both our enemies and the Democrats (terms no longer mutually exclusive) that the average American has the attention span of a geriatric squirrel. Otherwise he or she might recall the fall of Saigon in ’75 and the killing fields of Cambodia — fiascoes likewise made possible by the Party of Cut and Run.

That the party of Harry Truman and John Kennedy has degenerated into a home for wayward socialists — Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton — is tragic; that the American people grant such odious scoundrels sanctuary in the nation’s capitol is bewildering; that they elevated a security risk like Barry Soetoro, AKA Barry Soebarkah, AKA Barack Obama to the highest office in the land is a downright travesty.

The current President of the United States is a man with a past murkier than a cup of Turkish coffee; a man who serves an ideology as red as an oozing tomato; a man who heads the most corrupt and lawless gang of miscreants to come out of Chicago since Prohibition. And he’s either the most incompetent individual to ever rest his bony keister on the Presidential seal, or he’s the most treacherous. And no one seems to care.

“It doesn’t matter a whit what’s going on with the popularity of the president. He may lose the Senate, but he is governing without the Congress. He has got his — he has got his own Constitution that he is operating under. He now regulates the entire healthcare system. And the story that was missed among all the scandals that are supposedly undoing his presidency is the climate change regulations. This is all by regulation. Nothing in legislation. He doesn’t need the Congress, which is going to revolutionize and put control of U.S. energy, which is the U.S. economy, in the Environmental Protection Agency. You want to run America? Don’t run for the presidency. Get yourself appointed head of the E.P.A. It makes Stalin’s five-year plans look like a picnic…

(Is the Obama administration finished?)

We didn’t have that Green Thing back in my day?

RetroLIFE_06In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment.

The woman apologized to him
and explained,

We didn’t have the green thing back in my day!

The clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. The former generation did not care enough to save our environment.”

He was right, that generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.

milk-bottles-lgBack then, they returned their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were Recycled.

But they didn’t have the green thing back in that customer’s day.

In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building.

OWideal2They walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks.

But she was right. They didn’t have the green thing in her day.

clotheslines_05Back then, they washed the baby’s diapers because they didn’t have the throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts – wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.

But that old lady is right, they didn’t have the green thing back in her day.

oldtimeradio-1-1Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house – not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief, not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because they didn’t have electric machines to do everything for you. When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

push-reel-mower-1Back then, they didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They exercised by working so they didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she’s right, they didn’t have the green thing back then.

5x7-47_2They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water.

They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.

But, they didn’t have the green thing back then.

QBORO BRBack then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or rode the school bus instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service.

5312134-old-fashioned-light-bulb-with-pull-chainThey had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances.

pizza-hutAnd they didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks were just because they didn’t have the green thing back then?

DECEMBER 7th 1941….. Inspires a letter to Obama

95-yr-old-vet-calls-out-obama

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year.  People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate.  Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.
You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
” We’re no longer a Christian nation
” America is arrogant”

– (Your wife even
announced to the world,” America is mean-
spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you.

To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British?  Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War?  I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination.  You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American.  If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue .  You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight?  You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing.  I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son.  Do your job.  When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him.  But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.  The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy.  That’s not our greatest threat.  Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.
And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle…

Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

Is it any wonder we call them

AFVet speaks out on ObamaCare with an Internet Solution

1472996_10151920215547740_2114269227_nHat tip to AFVet for this commentary

So what has the internet given us?

The ability to speak to people across the world at lightning speed.
I remember my Father saying that computers and the internet will never amount to anything.
It’s just a passing fad, a toy.
No amount of convincing on my part could change his mind.
He was a stubborn man and I was a son that just didn’t understand.

If he were alive today, he would be astounded at the powerful instrument it has become.

This brings me to my point.

Obamacare is obviously a debacle, and the republicans are possibly looking for a legislative alternative.

A legislative alternative is not what we need.

Rather, take the regulations away from the private sector, eliminate the state line restrictions that have been imposed, and allow the marketplace to do what it does best,….compete.

I can buy a book on Amazon.com, and I have no idea where the company is located, nor do I care.

If that is possible today, why can’t we buy an insurance policy in the same manner ?

The insurance companies should be able advertise across the nation with no restrictions !

The ones that can’t compete will fall by the wayside.

If that was allowed, the prices would go down, and we wouldn’t be forced to pay for maternity insurance if you are a 60 year old man or woman.

Nor would we be paying for ‘morning after pills’.

The logical, plausible aspect of this concept is I believe obvious to anyone that contains some degree of common sense.

No republican alternative.

Repeal Obamacare, and give the 85 % of the American People that were happy with their coverage to shop for it again on an open market.

The remaining 15 % can find something if they want it.

What we don’t want is the government mandating anything to people that actually have to work for a paycheck.

Air Force Vietnam Veteran Sets Obama Straight

Eagle-1Hat tip to AFVet for this fine article

Obama has played golf 145 times since he has been president

He is playing golf right now, (the 34th time this year.)

The economy is struggling.
People across the Country are being laid off or terminated because numerous companies cannot afford the cost of Obamacare if it is enacted.

The House of Representatives have made a major move to defund Obamacare while funding the government.

President Obama was in Missouri and stated that the paychecks for the Military would be in jeopardy if the government was shut down.
That is not true.
Nor is it true that SS checks will cease to go out, or Medicare/Medicaid payments.

He also alluded to the possibility that the Republicans are against HIM.

Poor baby.
No dumb-ass, they’re against your Marxist policies that are sending this Country down the tubes.

This bloated egomaniac still thinks it’s all about HIM.

You have stated that you are a Constitutional scholar,… I surmise that you are a fool to think that we are that stupid to believe we would allow you to trample on it.
You are now up against a nation that has awakened to the fact that you are purposely trying to destroy us and we will not allow that to happen.

You have shown that you do not revere our Flag, the symbol of our Nation, that many of us have fought and died in protecting it and what it represents.

It represents FREEDOM FROM TYRANNY, and a repressive government that is insistent on controlling every aspect of our existence.

WE THE PEOPLE ARE SPEAKING LOUDER EVERY DAY.

To those of you in congress that refuse to listen, we will be glad to put you in a position where you don’t have to anymore.

Obama, most of your sycophants are either hard core liberals or college students that show up for your endless jaunts to the failed schools that have destroyed the very fiber in the students that no longer have the knowledge of what it took to make this Nation what She once was.

Congratulations Barry..
You hate this Country and you have been fairly effective in destroying Her foundation.
If you think that you are gaining ground, you could be very wrong.

Possibly a miscalculation.
Maybe listening to the wrong advisers.
Her Foundation is US, and we do not give up or give in…..EVER !

GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES

Before there were Liberals we were all Americans

To Those of Us Born

1925 – 1970 :
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930s, ’40s, ’50s, ’60s and ’70s!!

First, we survived being born to Mothers who may have smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads.

As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes..

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid  Soda made with real white sugar. And we weren’t overweight.

WHY?

Because we were always outside playing…that’s why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day and, we were OKAY..

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play Stations, Nintendo and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs, no surround-sound or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from those accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms, and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.

Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These Generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever.

The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas..

We had Freedom, Failure, Success and Responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If you are one of those born
Between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the Lawyers and the Government Regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn’t it ?

The Quote of the Month

By Jay Leno:

“With Hurricanes, Tornados, Fires out of Control, Mud Slides, Flooding, Severe Thunderstorms tearing up the Country from one end to another, and with the threat of Bird Flu and Terrorist Attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?”

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us…go ahead and move on to Obama’s World

Besides, your probably a Liberal

I don’t think we’re in America anymore Toto?

not-in-america-any-more

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time.

We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together.

Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone
party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States of America; we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag.

We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.”
You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 did it again in 2012 and are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid again and again. It’s time you folks Sobered Up!

Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom.

This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2014 we are going to begin to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2016 we’re going to the polls by the millions.

This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren.

So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Grey-Haired Brigade.”
