Lawmakers question Obama’s pledge to scale back US nuclear arsenal

President Obama’s pledge to cut the United States’ nuclear arsenal by one-third is sending the wrong message to the global community, some Washington lawmakers said Wednesday.

“Now is not the time to pursue further strategic nuclear force reductions,” Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., said following Obama’s speech in Berlin, Germany.

Inhofe was among several lawmakers who warned that cutting the country’s strategic nuclear arsenal by one-third would put America at a disadvantage against countries like Russia, North Korea and Iran. Inhofe said the president’s plan wrongly assumes that reducing the role of nuclear weapons would make the world safer.

“Instead, our experience has been that nuclear arsenals — other than ours — are on the rise, Russia defies us at almost every turn, efforts to curb the nuclear ambitions of North Korea and Iran are failing, and our allies grow increasingly uneasy about the reliability of U.S. nuclear guarantees,” Inhofe, the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said.

The president called for further reducing nuclear stockpiles, and ultimately eliminating nuclear weapons, during an address in Berlin on Wednesday. “So long as nuclear weapons exist, we are not truly safe,” he said.

In the near-term, if the Senate approves the U.S.-Russia proposal, Obama would reduce the current limit for each country of 1,550 by a third, which would potentially bring the warhead stockpile to as low as 1,000.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a freshman Republican senator from New Hampshire, called the president’s decision to pursue additional reductions “misguided and dangerous.”

“A robust and reliable U.S. nuclear arsenal discourages nuclear proliferation and deters nuclear attacks on the United States and our allies,” Ayotte said in a statement.

Ret. Gen. Jack Keane told Fox News the country needs to do the opposite of what the president is proposing and instead should ramp up and modernize the program.

“Our (nuclear program) is in very bad shape and we have decorating capabilities,” he said.

Some lawmakers, though, applauded the president’s plan.

Democratic Rep. Adam Smith, ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, praised Obama’s approach.

“The president’s announcement today will allow the United States to lead the way on nuclear weapons reductions in a manner that strengthens our national security,” he said in a statement, adding that Obama “clearly understands that a strong nuclear deterrent remains essential. We have, and would retain, the ability to destroy the world many times over.”

During his speech in Berlin, Obama said “this is the moment to begin the work of seeking the peace of a world without nuclear weapons.”

It was the same message he told a crowd of 200,000-strong in Germany back in 2008 while he visited the country during his presidential campaign.

Obama also said, upon his return to the U.S., he will ask the Senate to ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty which has failed to make any significant strides in the Senate. During Wednesday’s speech, Obama also announced plans to attend a summit on securing nuclear material in 2014 in the Hague, an extension of the series of international meetings he initiated in 2009.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin seemed to question Obama’s sincerity and dismissed his statements.

“Obama’s calls to reduce nuclear arms cannot be taken seriously given that the U.S. is still ramping up its missile defenses,” Rogozin  told Reuters.

At the end of the Cold War with Russia in 1991, America had deployed more than 10,000 warheads on delivery vehicles. Since then, the number has decreased to fewer than 2,000 warheads, and is slated to fall further in the next five years, after the new START Treaty completes implementation.

The current cost of the U.S. arsenal and its support infrastructure surpasses $31 billion a year.

In April 2010, the U.S. and Russia signed the New START Treaty which the Senate approved in December 2010. The new START superseded SORT– the Strategic Offensive Reductions Treaty, which was signed by the two nations in 2002 and was scheduled to expire at the end of 2012.

Under the terms of the New START agreement, each side would limit its number of deployed nuclear weapons delivery systems to no more than 700. The number of deployed strategic nuclear warhead stockpiles were capped at 1,500.

Presently, the administration is completing a review of the size of its nuclear force as well as a review of the country’s employment policy.

The president has also said publicly that the U.S. may be able to cut its numbers of deployed and non-deployed warheads even more. According to press reports, the Pentagon is now reviewing the number of alternatives and that the White House is likely to shave the number of nukes even more to 1,000 warheads. However, Obama insists that any major movements would be done in parallel with Russia.

There are a growing number of countries who have access to nuclear weapons.

According to the Arms Control Association, China has 240 total warheads, France has fewer than 300 and Russia has 1,480 deployed strategic warheads. The Federation of American Scientists estimates that Russia has another 1,022 non-deployed strategic warheads and another 2,000 tactical nuclear warheads. Russia has thousands of others waiting to be dismantled. The United Kingdom has a stockpile of 225.

Part of the global concern over nuclear capabilities stems from the widespread catastrophic damage that could occur if the weapons were placed in the wrong hands especially in countries of instability like North Korea and Syria.

Senate Bill 1867: The Building Blocks for the Coming Martial Law

We are living in Disturbing Times and with a Disturbed President at the Helm.  One does not have to be an Einstein to figure out what is coming next.  Seems everyone is talking about what “Could” happen and yet seem to be in Denial of What is Happening.  Wake up America, this is not just some passing whim in our history but rather a long planned and well thought out agenda to bring about the end of America as we have known it.

Senate Bill 1867

Can the ‘Indefinite Detention’ Bill Send Americans to Military Prison Without Trial?

From The Blaze we read:

U.S. Citizens suspected of terrorism and caught on U.S. soil forfeit their rights to due process and the presumption of innocence underlying the Constitution.

That appears to be the current position of the Senate, according to many legal analysts and some in Congress, unless President Obama vetoes the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed on Tuesday.

Two provisions that have survived heated debate in the massive NDAA, also called Senate Bill 1867, are causing these concerns. Once the House and Senate bills are reconciled, they will head to the President’s desk to be signed into law, or struck down with the veto pen.

The hand writing is on the wall and one would have to be blind not to see what is coming next.  Conservative Bloggers who speak out against this President  and his agenda need to be Very Careful and Accurate in what they say making sure it is all Fact Based and Supported.  Otherwise one might find themselves taking a one way bus ride to Sunny Camp Fema!

The Communist Agenda to Grind America Down has Worked

We the People are seeing first hand the beginning of the end for America as we know it. We can all feel it and know that something is wrong, that something is happening, and we are not quite sure what. Perhaps we just don’t want to believe it is possible.

Can you not see nor smell the stench of Oppression as America falls within its grip?  Little by little and day by day America is falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of  Socialist Marxism.  An American financial collapse will all but seal our fate and it is obvious this President and the Progressive Liberals in our Government are determined to destroy our Capitalistic way of life come hell or high water.  The question remains, what will you do America?

As we watch our Stock Market Tumble and see our Dollar lose its value what else can one expect short of disaster.  We have been set up to take a fall America and the sooner we wake up the sooner we can begin to turn this tide of events.  Americans need to be standing up and speaking out now.  Time is of the essence as 2012 approaches and America can no longer afford the luxury of Indifference.

We are a Nation of Laws and are being Governed by a Lawless President. The American People must stand up and get involved now in further exposing the evil deeds and designs this man and his Motley Crew have for our Republic. Our Freedom is in Serious Danger and time is of the essence. The Election of 2012 will be upon us before we know it and now is the time to rally the troops and get your friends and family educated and Registered to Vote in that Crucial Election. The future of our Republic hangs in the balance and God Forbid, if this man wins re-election all that is America will be lost.

What will you do America?

What will you do?

Pearl Harbor again? The Coming Communism

We the People are seeing first hand the beginning of the end of America as we know it. We can all feel it and know that something is wrong, that something is happening, and we are not quite sure what. Perhaps we just don’t want to believe it is possible.  We didn’t believe Pearl Harbor could happen and then it was too late.

I wrote this post knowing full well the criticism that would come.  It’s ok, I couldn’t not write this post.  I love America too much to not give warning of what we all fear may be happening in our Country.

Ten years ago I would have never thought anything like this could become a reality, and now here we are.

President Obama is disarming our Country and dividing our people.  We are ripe for an Invasion and we are not prepared. This is one of those times in my life when I can only hope and pray that I am wrong. Dead Wrong!   Is this our coming reality?

Please America, wake up to what is happening within our Government.  Get involved and let your voice be heard. Vote while you still can and by all means, Arm Yourselves!

This threat is very real and deep down we all know it. Don’t wait until it is too late. Prepare America for the worst and hope for the best, but by all means….. prepare yourselves.

Just as we Americans never saw Pearl Harbor coming…

So it is today.

We are The American People

We are Americans  Free to speak without fear, Free to Worship in Our own way, Free to Stand for what We think Right, Free to Oppose what We believe Wrong, and Free to Choose those who shall Govern Our Country.

This Heritage of Freedom We Pledge to Uphold

Hat Tip to  John Diefenbaker, Prime Minister of Canada. Who first Coined this Phrase in 1960

President John F. Kennedy

Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You speech

Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, reverend clergy, fellow citizens, we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom – symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning – signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe – the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans – born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage – and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge – and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do – for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

To those new States whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom – and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

To those peoples in the huts and villages across the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required – not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge – to convert our good words into good deeds – in a new alliance for progress – to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbours know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this Hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house.

To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support – to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective – to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak – and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run.

Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.

We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed.

But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course – both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankind’s final war.

So let us begin anew – remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belabouring those problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms – and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.

Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah – to “undo the heavy burdens -. and to let the oppressed go free.”

And if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavour, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again – not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are – but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation” – a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility – I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our country and all who serve it — and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God’s work must truly be our own.

American Courage to Stand

Socialism began to take root in America about 100 years ago and began to slowly creep into the American Physique as a harmless yet beneficial way to bring about Social Justice for all. Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth. We know them as modern-day Liberals, or Progressives if you will. They change names once the current name is exposed for what it really is, Marxist/Communism. We have all seen the living conditions of people who live under such tyrannical rule and we have watched as the Socialistic Countries of Europe erupt into violent riots over the failed policies of Socialism. Here in America it is different as we are a Capitalistic Country enjoying unlimited opportunity for wealth and the American Dream. America’s Greatness sprang forth because of our Christian Values and Ideals so Socialism although having taken root here cannot prosper. There are just too many rational thinking Christian Americans living in this Great Land to ever let Socialism take hold and destroy Our Way of Life.

The End of Socialism began here on November 2nd 2010 and will see its ultimate demise come 2012

The Rise and Fall of the United States of America?

Did Ronald Reagan see all those many years ago the dangers of the Progressive Liberal Movement in the United States of America?  Did he not as our President fight with every fiber of his being to bring about the end of that Evil Empire and bring down the Berlin Wall?

Did he not destroy the workings of Communism in our age?  How then is it that today we are seeing the Berlin Wall beginning rise up again and this time in America?  We are about to be destroyed by all those things which he and countless other Americans stood against and repeatedly warned us about?

Judgment day is here my friends and I fear that our greatest challenge today is our own President and all those Progressive Socialists who now hold power in our Capitol.

We the People must put a stop this come 2012 or I fear all will be lost and the Greatness that once was America will be no more!

What will you do America?

What will you do?
