The Washington Post‘s Bob Woodward ripped into President Barack Obama on “Morning Joe” today, saying he’s exhibiting a “kind of madness I haven’t seen in a long time” for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.

“Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, ‘Oh, by the way, I can’t do this because of some budget document?’” Woodward said. 

“Or George W. Bush saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to invade Iraq because I can’t get the aircraft carriers I need?’” Or even Bill Clinton saying, ‘You know, I’m not going to attack Saddam Hussein‘s intelligence headquarters,’ … because of some budget document?”

The Defense Department said in early February that it would not deploy the U.S.S. Harry Truman to the Persian Gulf, citing budget concerns relating to the looming cuts known as the sequester.

“Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. ‘I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country,’” Woodward said.

“That’s a kind of madness that I haven’t seen in a long time,” he said.

Don’t ‘Patronize’ and Look ‘Down Your Nose’ at Gun Culture

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke with top Democratic donors at a private meeting on Saturday where, according to Politico, he warned the group to treat gun control differently than other political issues.

“Do not patronize the passionate supporters of your opponents by looking down your nose at them,” Clinton reportedly said.  “A lot of these people live in a world very different from the world lived in by the people proposing these things…”

He proceeded to explain how, though polling data is certainly useful for politicians, it doesn’t measure the emotion and enthusiasm associated with an issue.  And it’s the passion associated with gun control, Clinton argued, that makes it so delicate.

Politico continues:

Clinton dedicated a substantial portion of his 40-minute address before a joint meeting of the Obama National Finance Committee and a group of business leaders to the issue of guns and gun control, saying that it was a test-case for President Barack Obama’s grass-roots movements…

“The way the Obama campaign won Florida, won Ohio, won this election by more than projected was the combination of technology, social media and personal contact,” Clinton said. That’s “the only way that our side will ever be able to even up the votes in the midterms and as these issues come up, really touch people and talk to them about it.”

But he said that he understands the culture that permeates a state like Arkansas — where guns are a longstanding part of local culture.

“A lot of these people … all they’ve got is their hunting and their fishing,” he told the Democratic financiers. “Or they’re living in a place where they don’t have much police presence. Or they’ve been listening to this stuff for so long that they believe it all.”  [Emphasis added]

In the opinion of the former president, those who are patting themselves on the back for their “brave” efforts on gun control may not be seeing the full picture.

“Do not be self-congratulatory about how brave you [are] for being for this” gun control push, he said.  “The only brave people are the people who are going to lose their jobs if they vote with you.”

  White House Ridiculed on Twitter for Altering Presidential Biography Pages

It was reported yesterday that the White House has “amended” the biography of nearly every U.S. president of the past century, adding a “Did you know?” section at the end where they tied former presidents’ accomplishments to those of president Obama.

At the bottom of Reagan’s biography, for instance, the White House tried to plug the “Buffett Rule.”  Did you know, it asks, that “In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.”

The Calvin Coolidge connection is no less far-fetched.  “On Feb. 22, 1924 Calvin Coolidge became the first president to make a public radio address to the American people. President Coolidge later helped create the Federal Radio Commission, which has now evolved to become the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

 

 President Obama became the first president to hold virtual gatherings and town halls using Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc,” it explains.

While the adjustments don’t reach back as far as Woodrow Wilson, only a modest link to FDR is mentioned: “On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act.  Today the Obama Administration continues to protect seniors and ensure Social Security will be there for future generations.”

The move is drawing ridicule in conservative circles, even inspiring a Twitter hashtag, #ObamaInHistory, that started trending worldwide.

The Republican National Committee similarly summarized: “Obama in History — World Changing Events You Didn’t Know Obama Played A Part In.”

But White House defended its actions, saying: “No biographies have been altered…We simply added links at the bottom of each page to related whitehouse.gov content, which is a commonly used best practice to encourage people to browse more pages on a site.”

How can you add something, without altering the original?  And it’s clearly not just an effort to encourage people to “browse more pages.”

“Each one finds a way to tout an Obama administration policy or practice in the process,” Fox describes.

But this isn’t surprising to anyone who has followed presidential politics…After all, Barack knows that “we’re going to have to change our traditions, [and] our history.”

Million Dollar Question to Obama: ‘Do You Take Any Personal Responsibility For Your Administration Creating’ Current Economic Conditions?

Imagine that you had the chance to sit down with the President of the United States and you could ask him any question. What would you ask?

Many of us would probably try to find out if he thought his economic initiatives were a mistake and that they should be altered or discontinued.

What do you think he would say?

Well, you don’t have to imagine any longer because ABC affiliate WVEC’s David Alan asked for you.

“How have we become a country where so many members of the middle class go to bed at night wondering if they going to be able to keep their homes and put food on the table and send their kids to college?” Alan asked the president. “Do you take any personal responsibility for your administration creating that condition?”

“We didn’t create the condition. We haven’t solved it fully yet because it was three decades in the making,” President Obama replied.

“I mean, if you look at the trend lines, essentially what’s happened is that because of automation, because of globalization, you had a lot of manufacturing move out of the United States. Businesses got more efficient, they needed fewer workers, they had more leverage over workers, and all this added up to a tougher time for middle class families,” the president explained.

So, if one is to understand the president correctly, the current economic crisis facing middle-class America was created by Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush? And are we to believe that it has been exacerbated by “Automation”?

While one could argue that Alan’s question may have been a bit loaded, and that it was specifically designed to prompt an admission of failure from the president, it is very difficult to view President Obama’s response as anything but “Passing The Buck.”

Obama Unseats Carter as Worst U.S. President in American History

Obama‘s Approval Rating Drops Below Carter’s: Worst of Any President at This Stage of His Term

It’s been a slow, steady decline but President Barack Obama‘s job approval rating has finally dipped below Jimmy Carter’s, earning Obama the worst approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern history.

Gallup’s daily presidential job approval index put the current president‘s job approval rating at 43 percent compared to Carter’s 51 percent.

US News adds:

Back in 1979, Carter was far below Obama until the Iran hostage crisis, eerily being duplicated in Tehran today with Iranian protesters storming the British embassy. The early days of the crisis helped Carter’s ratings, though his failure to win the release of captured Americans, coupled with a bad economy, led to his defeat by Ronald Reagan in 1980.

According to Gallup, here are the job approval numbers for other presidents at this stage of their terms, a year before the re-election campaign:

– Harry S. Truman: 54 percent.

– Dwight Eisenhower: 78 percent.

– Lyndon B. Johnson: 44 percent.

– Richard M. Nixon: 50 percent.

– Ronald Reagan: 54 percent.

– George H.W. Bush: 52 percent.

– Bill Clinton: 51 percent.

– George W. Bush: 55 percent.

To make matters worse, Gallup reports that Obama’s overall job approval rating ranks among the worst in American political history, averaging 49 percent. Only three former presidents have had a worse average rating at this stage: Carter, Ford, and Harry S. Truman.

It might also be worth noting that no president in history, save the unpopular Truman, won re-election with such ratings. And, as U.S. News points out, Truman did so by running an anti-Congress campaign that Obama’s team is using as a model.

Strangely, the current climate in Iran is eerily similar to what it was when Carter held the highest office in the land.

Is Obama in Denial? Representative Allen West on Radical Islāmic Intentions

We Finally get to Hear the Truth about Radical Islāmic Intentions

Only two blacks were newly elected to congress this cycle, and both are Republican.  Col West is from southern Florida, a bastion of the Democratic Party.   He won in a walk. This new Congressman was an extremely popular commander in Iraq.   He was forced to retire because during an intense combat action a few of his men were captured.  At the same time his men had captured one of the guys who were with the Iraqis who captured his men.  Knowing that time was crucial and his interrogators were not getting any where with the prisoner  COL West took matters into his own hands.   He burst into the room and demanded thru an interpreter that the prisoner tell him where his men were being taken.   The prisoner refused so COL West tookout his pistol and placed it into the prisoner’s crotch and fired.   Then the COL told the prisoner that the next shot would not miss.   So the prisoner said he would show where the American service members were being taken.

  The Americans were rescued. 

Someone filed a report on incorrect handling of prisoners.   COL West was forced to retire.   COL West was just elected in November 2010 to Congress from Florida.   During the elections he was part of a panel on how to handle or how to relate to Muslims.   You will see his answers here:
