Middle East Crisis – Border Crisis – Ukraine Crisis and Obama’s Fundraising Trips

the-amateurHat tip to Fox News for this Report

President Obama began his three-day West Coast fundraising tour in Seattle with an admission that mushrooming global crises were adding anxiety to an American public already concerned about the economy.

“Part of people’s concern is just the sense that around the world the old order isn’t holding and we’re not quite yet where we need to be based on the new order,” said Obama, who later cautioned against letting those anxieties lead to cynicism and a lack of interest in democracy.

“People who really need government to work for them on their behalf, they withdraw, they opt out, and that makes government even more dysfunctional,” he said.

The president already has taken heat for making time for a burger stop and fundraisers last week shortly after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was downed over Ukraine, killing hundreds. While the president repeatedly has addressed the tragedy in public, he also spent his Sunday playing golf at Fort Belvoir.

Later Tuesday, Obama will attend a Democratic Party fundraiser in Seattle, before catching Air Force One to San Francisco. He’ll end the three-day swing later this week in Los Angeles.

The White House has defended the president’s busy political schedule, which the president’s team largely has not changed in response to world events.

Obamax-large“What the president is looking at and what his team is looking at is, does he have what he needs to do his job?”

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Monday, in response to questions about the president’s fundraising.

Asked about Obama’s fundraising last week in New York, Earnest said it was not a mistake and noted that the president made calls to the leaders of Ukraine and Malaysia amid the Flight 17 tragedy.

“When the president travels, he travels with an array of staff and advisers and communications equipment that allows him to do his job from wherever he happens to be,” Earnest said. “And if it becomes clear that there’s a need for him to come back to the White House in order to fulfill those functions, then we’ll make a change in his schedule. Right now, it’s not apparent that that’s the case.”

But Republican critics have questioned the president’s stay-the-course strategy on fundraisers.

In response to the White House defense of its own itinerary, the Republican National Committee tweeted: “The White House still feels Obama’s choice of burgers & fundraisers over responding to crises was the right one.”

Aside from the Malaysia Airlines tragedy and deliberations over how to respond to the suspected Russian connection, the administration continues to grapple with the surge of illegal immigrant minors along the U.S.-Texas border, and with the mounting death toll in the war between Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

mm

After Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced the deployment of National Guard personnel to the border in his state to deal with the surge, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, ribbed the president for his schedule.

“The fact is if the president weren’t so busy playing golf or pool, he would know the integration has been happening,” Gohmert told Fox News, referring to collaboration along the border between various Border Patrol and security officials.

Obama did abandon one idea for the trip, however. The White House had been in touch with late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel about a presidential appearance on his show during the stop in Los Angeles, but is not going forward.

“We elected not to do it this time, but hope we can arrange to do it in the near future,” a White House official said.

But on the fundraising trail, Obama remains a potent draw among the Democratic Party’s wealthy donors, who pay up to $32,400 to be in intimate settings with the president.

The fundraising highlight of the trip will be a Democratic National Committee event Wednesday at the Beverly Hills home of Shonda Rhimes, the producer of the ABC series “Scandal,” a drama set in modern-day Washington. Kerry Washington, who plays the lead role in the show, is among the hosts.

So far this 2013-14 election cycle, Obama has attended 73 fundraising events for Democratic Party groups. During the 2009-10 midterm cycle, when Republicans won control of the House, Obama attended 98 fundraisers, according to CBS News White House reporter Mark Knoller, who keeps detailed records of presidential travels and events.

Obama has outpaced his predecessor in fundraising, having attended 395 fundraisers during his presidency as of this week. According to Knoller’s statistics, then-President George W. Bush had attended 217 at the same point in his second term.

The 395 is more than Bush attended during his entire presidency.

1940017_791758964186399_1426092954_n

Obama has devoted much of his effort to the Democratic National Committee, which last month raised $9 million and cut its debt to $3 million from a one-time high of $23 million. Obama also will raise money for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the political arm of the party that assists Democratic House incumbents and candidates.

While the House is expected to remain in Republican hands after the election, the fate of the Democratic-controlled Senate is much more in question, raising the stakes for fundraising.

Obama has at least one bit of policy-driven business set aside for the trip. In Los Angeles on Thursday he plans to go to a community college to draw attention to jobs training, particularly for work requiring specialized skills, like health care.

At what Price Freedom?

10270477_804650399563922_8647940926913497254_n

We are Americans and living in the land of the Free and the Home of the Brave and yet there are those among us who would destroy all that America stands for.

I have to ask, how can any native born American desire to destroy all that has been fought for by those who have gone before us for the sake of an ideology of liberal socialism that has been proven to fail worldwide?

What is the price each of us are willing to pay for our freedom?

The internet has been full of rage over the ‘Fundamental Transformation of America’ we have found under President Obama, and one has to wonder just what each and everyone of us is willing to do in order to preserve this last great hope of mankind on earth.

The November Mid-Term Elections will be upon us before we know it and the time to act is now if we are ever going to win back our Country and our Freedoms.

Sadly, most Americans aren’t paying attention to the perils we face as a Free People.

Sadly, most Americans are preoccupied with the everyday cares of life and leisure while others are sounding the alarm of eminent destruction.

Americans have not been this divided on the future course of this Country since the Civil War.

America’s Sunset Years…

We have all seen and heard the lies coming from this President and his administration over these past five years not to mention all the lies and cover ups coming from our various government agencies, and yet the American people seem to just go about their daily lives completely oblivious to the destruction of our freedom and  way of life in these United States of America.

Today we find ourselves at a crossroads where one path is apathy and the other is survival. The big question we should be asking ourselves these days is whether the road less traveled will be the one that wins the day come the Mid-Term Elections this November.

With 51% of the electorate solidly behind this entitlement mentality one has to wonder when, if ever, the tide will swing back to responsibility and personal achievement through hard work and an honest days wage.

Death Panels at the Veterans Affairs Health Care system?

department-of-veterans-affairs-lincoln-plaque

CNN delivers a shocking report that “at least 40 U.S. veterans died waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system, many of whom were placed on a secret waiting list.”

After all the ridicule it would seem Sarah Palin was right after all…

993081_10201257418907996_724921225_n

“Death panel” is a political term that originated during the 2009 debate about federal health care legislation to cover the uninsured in the United States used to describe the system’s Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). The term was coined in August 2009 by Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska, when she charged that the then-proposed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act would create a “death panel” of bureaucrats who would decide whether Americans—such as her elderly parents or children with Down syndrome—were “worthy of medical care”. Palin’s claim has been referred to as the “death panel myth”,.[1][2] Palin specified that she was referring to Section 1233 of bill HR 3200 which would have paid physicians for providing voluntary counseling to Medicare patients about living wills, advance directives, and end-of-life care options.

Palin’s claim was criticized in editorials by mainstream news media, fact-checkers, academics, physicians, Democrats, and some Republicans. Prominent Republicans such as Newt Gingrich and conservative talk radio hosts Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin backed Palin’s statement. One poll showed that after it spread, about 85% of Americans were familiar with the charge and of those who were familiar with it, about 30% thought it was true.[1] Due to public concern, the provision to pay physicians for providing voluntary counseling was removed from the Senate bill and was not included in the law that was enacted, the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In a 2011 statement, the American Society of Clinical Oncology bemoaned the politicization of the issue and said that the proposal should be revisited.

For 2009, “death panel” was named as PolitiFact’s “Lie of the Year”, one of FactCheck’s “whoppers”, and the most outrageous term by the American Dialect Society.

Veterans waiting for months for an APPOINTMENT, let alone care for their ailments.

In 2009, Obama knew about this problem and here it is 2014 and veterans are dying waiting for treatment.

These people were willing to give their lives for this Country.

Many lost limbs, and some were incapacitated in other areas of a normal existence.
Nightmares may persist, the echoes of combat do not go away.
The inability to shake the memories can prove to change your life for the rest of your life.

Still, many function as fathers and mothers and raise a family, and do quite well in doing so.
They do so because they are the cream of the crop that this Country can ever produce and they are showing the courage that it takes to carry on no matter what.

These are the true Americans, the spine of America, the best of the best.

The ones that will still give their last breath to defend this Country.

In WWII, 25 missions on a bomber and you were out.
Many did not make that goal.
The bomber was either shot down or they lost it and could no longer perform their duty due to mental conditions.

This Country owes a lot to the people that were willing to put their life on the line to protect Her from the ones that would take Her away from US.

Our taxpayer money goes to pay the VA to take care of the ones that took care of US.

The ones that are responsible to maintain them have fallen down on the job, consistently.

Time to take our Country back.

God Bless America and the ones that defended Her and the ones that defend Her to this day.

Why Americans choose Slavery while the rest of the World begs to be Free…by Brittius

shining city on a hillHat tip to Brittius for this most excellent commentary

6525ddf34b9d76e647fcc4ff6770806aBeing a Patriot, is the obligation that goes part and parcel with being born to this nation and the only way to be certain that this nation shall, remain free.
Those that do not understand this, are already, slaves.

I saw that with people in New York City in the 1960s envying the French and Bohemian life style. I spoke with a few former German soldiers, one an ex-Waffen SS trooper. I spoke to two women that were French and, were in Paris 1940.
Much of the strict laws were made lax, as the country was getting over the great Depression in 1940. My mother (still alive), says here, we had it until 1938/1939. The women said there was little to eat and absolutely nothing to waste. Not food, not anything. The government in Paris let the people live as long as nothing like murder was going on. The old German soldiers said pretty much the same thing. The Waffen SS trooper said, people, begged for something easy. Anything easy and getting over, without hard work or pain. People were poor and lowered themselves and became poorer. Females, he said, were willing to have sex for half bottle of wine and three cigarettes. Where did it get them? Only lower. Only more depraved. Then what? Hitler took Paris, and all the people were fleeing or hiding, except for a few partisan resistance people, and they gave the German troops a damned good fight. Everyone else ran, because it was easier to run.
People here, want the soft, lax life. A baby will always want the mother’s teat, until they are made to, start eating solid food. Sin is sweet. It is hard for people to migrate towards a slightly bitter hard scrabble life, so they seek what is sweet, sin.
I remember going through hamlets that were hot with firefights. NVA Regulars, not untrained VC. Fighting was brutal and also on occasion hand to hand. I recall the smoke cover, smells, at times slow motion of mayhem. Looking down the gun sights while moving, where your eye goes, so does that front sight. You think as you were trained. I’m only a teenager then, and suddenly, people run towards us, shouting in Vietnamese, they are naked. Their hands up and fingers spread as they run past us. A woman runs past holding a naked baby by one leg upside down, and all I see are human figures, I do not think like a teenager. Any one of them could try to kill us, my finger on the trigger. A shot from a hut and it draws fire. We were not teenagers, we were “terminators” for lack of a better word. The people wanted nothing to do with dying, bleeding, and suffering.
In America, people will run to whatever feeds them, clothes them, houses them, no different from any domesticated house pet. But who do we notice? The old beat-up Tom cat, the battered junkyard dog, or the animals that live in freedom. Even the lion in the zoo, seeks Freedom, because it is bred into them.

‘Not over’? Feds coy over next move in Nevada rancher standoff

Tensions simmered Tuesday in the standoff between federal land managers and a Nevada rancher — but the feds are being coy about how far they’ll go to pursue Cliven Bundy as both sides regroup for their next move.

Federal land managers backed down in a weekend standoff with Bundy after hundreds of states’ rights protesters, including armed militia members, showed up to protest federal officials seizing his cattle. Some protesters had their guns drawn and pointed toward law enforcement, some of whom were also armed, on the scene — ultimately, no shots were fired and the Bureau of Land Management reported that officials left over safety concerns.

Nevada Sen. Harry Reid said afterward that the dispute is “not over.” But whether the feds will keep plugging away with a court challenge or go further is unclear.

One question is whether there will be any repercussions for armed protesters.

Asked repeatedly by FoxNews.com whether the standoff might lead to a criminal investigation into possible threats against federal officers, administration officials would not say.

A Justice Department spokesman said they had no comment on the matter.

Asked whether BLM planned to ask for such an investigation, a BLM spokesman said “the gather is over” and referred to prior statements put out over the weekend.

The “gather” refers to the round-up of 900 cattle, hundreds of which belonged to Bundy, on federally owned land in Nevada. Bundy has been at odds for years with the feds, who say he owes more than $1.1 million in unpaid grazing fees. BLM long ago revoked Bundy’s grazing rights on that land after citing concern for a federally protected tortoise. Bundy, though, claimed ancestral rights to the land his family settled in the 19th century and has refused to pay the fees or remove his animals.

The case drew intense media attention as federal and law enforcement officials openly clashed last week with Bundy and his family, at times using Tasers. The standoff came to a head on Saturday, when hundreds of Bundy supporters streamed in. Top lawmakers, even those critical of the federal government’s actions, voiced concern that the dispute could get out of hand.

Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., urged protesters to let BLM officials gather their equipment and leave the area. “The dispute is over, the BLM is leaving, but emotions and tensions are still near the boiling point, and we desperately need a peaceful conclusion to this conflict,” Heller said at the time. He also asked protesters to return home.

So are the feds willing to forgive and forget?

Already, Bundy supporters are citing the resolution to the weekend’s dispute as an important moment. Arizona state Rep. David Livingston, speaking with Reuters, called it a “major tipping point” for western lawmakers pushing state sovereignty issues.

But Heller’s Senate colleague, Senate Majority Leader Reid, D-Nev., told Reno-based KRNV: “It’s not over. We can’t have, in America, people that violate the law and just walk away from it. So it’s not over.”

At the least, BLM officials say they’ll continue their fight through the courts.

“After 20 years and multiple court orders to remove the trespass cattle, Mr. Bundy owes the American taxpayers in excess of $1 million. The BLM will continue to work to resolve the matter administratively and judicially,” a statement from the bureau said.

After the agency released Bundy’s cattle and left the scene, nerves were still raw.

Bundy told Fox News that local sheriffs, wherever the BLM officials are, need to take away their guns and “disarm the federal bureaucrats.”

“They have no authority,” Bundy said Monday night.

Bundy’s daughter Bailey Logue told Fox News that the dispute is “about people standing up for what’s right.”

“It was rewarding to see our cattle free again and not being tortured and back where they are safe,” she said. Logue, too, faulted the local sheriff for not standing up to federal officials and keeping them out.

FoxNews.com’s Judson Berger and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

A small word but a powerful one when it comes to your privacy.

What gives the federal government the right to impose itself upon you if you have done no wrong ?

Many people take the opinion that they haven’t broken any law.

Many say that they have committed no crimes.

With today’s government,…can you be sure ?

My response to those comments are,…by who’s rules?

Children that are suspended from school for forming a gun with their hand.

Or for eating a pop tart into the shape of a gun.

All the while, teachers, men and women, are engaging in sex with the students that they are paid to educate by the parents that have no choice but to put their children in their care.

All of this is happening amidst the desecration of the Christian voice striving to speak out against it.
