Veterans give Obama the Big Chill

profiles-of-vetsHat tip to The Blaze for this Report

President Barack Obama at times faced an unenthusiastic crowd as he addressed American military veterans at American Legion’s National convention on Tuesday. As the Daily Mail puts it, Obama received “awkward silences where White House speechwriters expected ovations.”

“You know that we should never send America’s sons and daughters into harm’s way unless it is absolutely necessary and we have a plan and we are resourcing it and prepared to see it through,” Obama said.

After a brief moment of silence, weak applause followed.

A seemingly weaker response followed when Obama said America’s “longest war” in Afghanistan would soon come to a “responsible end.”

However, one of the most awkward moments came when the president had to wait several seconds for any response from the audience.

“As we go forward, we will continue to partner with Afghans so their country can never again be used to launch attacks against the United States,” he said.

Several seconds of awkward silence followed before scattered clapping is heard.

The Right Pundit has compiled a video containing several moments where applause lines received very tepid clapping or just plain silence:

The VA scandal has not helped Obama’s standing among military veterans.

In the same speech, Obama announced 19 new executive actions for treating mental health problems and for suicide prevention of American veterans and vowed to fix the scandal-plagued Department of Veterans Affairs.

“Veterans called for it, we heard you, which is why today I am announcing 19 new executive actions to help improve mental health care for those american heroes and their families,” Obama said.

Buck up me Hearty’s………

By AFVet

Sounds like a line from a pirate movie right ?

Well, I think it applies to the Patriots, the Christians, and the Conservatives that are being overwhelmed by the tactics that the left is using to destroy our attempts to take this Country back from 100 years of plotting, manipulating, and nefarious procedures to eradicate anyone that would try to re-inject the Principles that this Country was founded upon into the society.

Voter I.D. ? Not needed.

Voter fraud, never happened, so they say.

Let one of US stand up and voice our opinion and we are ridiculed by the press and the imbeciles that have the press in their pocket.

Racism is the battle cry of the left against the right.

It is a shallow statement, and they know it.

But they are louder than we are, and they don’t have to make sense as their followers are mostly just drones and sycophants

The theme of Voting American will always reside in the hearts and the minds of true Patriots.

The recent response to it’s potential demise inspired this commentary.

Our mission is not complete.

We cannot give up now my Patriotic Friends.

We are too close to at least a small victory to begin to remove the cancer that Washington has inflicted on this Country.

We are more informed now than we have been in many years because we love this Nation and want to see Her survive.

We want to see Her once again be the Shining City on the Hill.

shining city on a hill

The call to arms will come in November,

will you respond ?

I guess the left would call us pirates, so be it !

Freedom, is never easy…. Independence, is never soft

10408062_10152544964647464_3246583483626538847_n

A short but to the point commentary by… Brittius

6525ddf34b9d76e647fcc4ff6770806a

It should be reflected upon that the 4th of July is symbolically a day all around the globe for people who cherish Freedom.

It is not an account of America breaking from rule of British though ruled by Britain, it was when a People united to defy and rebel against a man who, was a tyrant (King George-III of England).

The English people remain closely allied with America, and many, over the past 238 years, have become family kin.

Others are kin via virtue of united in soul and thought, which the Latin translation of the Band of Brothers is, “That which Virtue unites, Death can not tear asunder”.

All English speaking peoples around the world should always be united, as a bond of Freedom.

Today, a criminal regime is in power in our government as too many voters wanted “free” stuff, rather than Freedom.

I have always said, “Freedom, is never easy.

Independence, is never soft”.

Sweat equity.

Hardscrabble.

Considering than a few Founding Fathers went bankrupt and died penniless as result of giving their fortunes so that our nation could be established and we, 238 years later, are the heirs of their legacy and unselfishness.

They were called fools by many.

Those men, are the reason why in 1812 an attempt to recapture our nation failed.

Those men laid foundation that slapped the German Kaiser and kicked Hitler squarely in the seat of his pants.

Now, we see and feel the wrath of a man in the Oval Office not only throttling back our nation into mediocrity but a man actually throttling by the neck, Lady Liberty, herself.

That is why it is despicable for anyone that is a Patriot, to not want to saddle up, and head into, the fight.

Seek legal venues, and if need be, a willingness to wrest our nation from the specter of Marxism. God is not with the Marxists.

The Marxists hate our Lord God Almighty.

God has always been, and remains, on our side, and the reign of corruption will ebb when the Good Lord gets fed up enough.

Right now, He is giving the evil atheist Marxist regime enough rope and then…

Remain strong and keep the spirit of Freedom alive.

Strengthen others needing it.

Have faith.

The job remains, ahead of us, because generations of Americans yet unborn, are counting on us.

Their souls are now with the Lord and they are depending on us today, to carry the fight, and win.

Happy Days Are Gone Again

There is a grave threat in the White House. If he is not thrown out or otherwise constrained in the near future, national security will inevitably become a top priority for Americans, forced by tragedy, not just to give up “piña coladas and getting caught in the rain,” but to survive a Dark Age into which their president led them. (No Mr. President, You are the ‘Serious Threat to Everybody’s Future’)

“I think this is an administration that, we’re coming to find out, is one of almost unimaginable incompetence…” – Brit Hume

“Obama is not worse than we thought. Liberals are worse than we thought.” – Christopher Chantrill

It’s fortunate for both our enemies and the Democrats (terms no longer mutually exclusive) that the average American has the attention span of a geriatric squirrel. Otherwise he or she might recall the fall of Saigon in ’75 and the killing fields of Cambodia — fiascoes likewise made possible by the Party of Cut and Run.

That the party of Harry Truman and John Kennedy has degenerated into a home for wayward socialists — Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton — is tragic; that the American people grant such odious scoundrels sanctuary in the nation’s capitol is bewildering; that they elevated a security risk like Barry Soetoro, AKA Barry Soebarkah, AKA Barack Obama to the highest office in the land is a downright travesty.

The current President of the United States is a man with a past murkier than a cup of Turkish coffee; a man who serves an ideology as red as an oozing tomato; a man who heads the most corrupt and lawless gang of miscreants to come out of Chicago since Prohibition. And he’s either the most incompetent individual to ever rest his bony keister on the Presidential seal, or he’s the most treacherous. And no one seems to care.

“It doesn’t matter a whit what’s going on with the popularity of the president. He may lose the Senate, but he is governing without the Congress. He has got his — he has got his own Constitution that he is operating under. He now regulates the entire healthcare system. And the story that was missed among all the scandals that are supposedly undoing his presidency is the climate change regulations. This is all by regulation. Nothing in legislation. He doesn’t need the Congress, which is going to revolutionize and put control of U.S. energy, which is the U.S. economy, in the Environmental Protection Agency. You want to run America? Don’t run for the presidency. Get yourself appointed head of the E.P.A. It makes Stalin’s five-year plans look like a picnic…

(Is the Obama administration finished?)

What Father’s Day is really about

660-Travis-ManionWhat Father’s Day is really about: Cherishing sons and daughters

Father’s Day has always been a special day for me. But today, as with the previous seven Father’s Days, the feelings of pride and satisfaction over my son Travis and daughter Ryan will be mixed with a void in my heart that can never be replaced.

That is because Travis will not be with us.

In April of 2007, he was serving as a Marine first lieutenant when he was killed in action in Iraq’s Al Anbar Province, cut down by a sniper’s armor-piercing bullet after his unit was ambushed while searching a suspected insurgent house. He had just helped save two wounded comrades when the bullet struck him in the heart.

He was 26.

I am one of thousands of fathers whose thoughts will turn today to a son or daughter lost serving our country.

Travis always made me extremely proud. A varsity athlete in football, lacrosse and wrestling in high school, he went on to graduate from the Naval Academy and served our country with great honor as a Marine officer through two tours in Iraq.

As an aspiring athlete and a 30-year Marine myself, I was able to share so much with Travis as he grew into manhood. I was always happy when he would come to me for advice or just ask to play catch.

I am one of thousands of fathers whose thoughts will turn today to a son or daughter lost serving our country. And from that perspective, I’d like to ask you to approach Father’s Day a little differently this year.

While it feels great as a dad to have a day where you are the center of attention, think instead of this as a day for celebrating the bonds between fathers and their sons and daughters.  Consider this a day, as a father, to appreciate all of the blessings you have as a family and share those special moments together.

Let the day be a reminder of just how important you are in each other’s lives. In my case, while my son Travis may be gone, my heart and thoughts are with my daughter Ryan, her husband Dave and my three grandchildren.

Today, if you are fortunate enough to be with your children, make the day a celebration of the unique relationships you have forged. Drag out the photo albums and the videos and remember every detail of the experiences you have shared.

Talk with your children about their lives, their dreams, their aspirations – and be thankful for what you have.

Obama’s Blatant Disregard for Congress and our Military Leaders

Obama blatantly disregards all things American

Military officials urged Obama not to trade Taliban ‘4-star generals,’ source says

reporter_herridge_060614

Senior military officials had advised President Obama not to make the Taliban-for-Bergdahl trade, a senior Defense official told Fox News, likening it to “handing over five four-star generals of the Taliban.”

The claim adds to the picture that is emerging about the tense internal debate over whether to proceed with freeing five hardened Taliban leaders from Guantanamo in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s release.

Sources told Fox News earlier this week that the Obama administration largely bypassed the intelligence community to green-light the swap, after such an exchange was first floated several years ago.

The Defense official, in explaining internal military opposition to the exchange, said many in the military considered Bergdahl to be a traitor — a reference to allegations that he deliberately abandoned his post in 2009.

Yet on the other end of the trade were five high-value, sought-after Taliban leaders. The U.S. government’s own records show some of them had ties to top terror figures including Mullah Omar and Usama bin Laden. Many Republican lawmakers have raised concerns that their freedom poses a major national security risk

“You’ve just released five extremely dangerous people, who in my opinion … will rejoin the battlefield,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., told Fox News.

New details are also emerging about Bergdahl’s conditions in captivity, offering a complicated portrait of his five years with his Haqqani captors.

According to secret documents prepared on the basis of a purported eyewitness account and obtained by Fox News, Bergdahl at one point during his captivity converted to Islam, fraternized openly with his captors and declared himself a “mujahid,” or warrior for Islam.

Yet the documents also show that Bergdahl at one point escaped his captors for five days and was kept, upon his re-capture, in a metal cage, like an animal. In addition, the reports detail discussions of prisoner swaps and other attempts at a negotiated resolution to the case that appear to have commenced as early as the fall of 2009.

The reports indicate that Bergdahl’s relations with his Haqqani captors morphed over time, from periods of hostility, where he was treated very much like a hostage, to periods where, as one source told Fox News, “he became much more of an accepted fellow” than is popularly understood. He even reportedly was allowed to carry a gun at times.

The dispatches were generated by the Eclipse Group, a private firm of former intelligence officers and operatives that has subcontracted with the Defense Department and prominent corporations to deliver granular intelligence on terrorist activities and other security-related topics.

The group is run by Duane R. (“Dewey”) Clarridge, a former senior operations officer for the Central Intelligence Agency in the 1980s best known for having been indicted for lying to Congress about his role in the tangled set of events that became known as the Iran-Contra scandal. He was pardoned by the first President Bush in December 1992 while on trial.

Amid concerns that the Bergdahl trade has created huge security risks, President Obama said earlier this week that the U.S. would be “keeping eyes” on the Taliban members while they spend the next year in Qatar.

At the same time, he acknowledged there’s “absolutely” a risk that the former Guantanamo inmates will try to return to the battlefield.

Some of them reportedly already have made that vow. NBC reported Friday that Noorullah Noori, one of the freed prisoners, pledged to return and fight Americans in Afghanistan, according to a Taliban commander.

Fox News’ Jim Angle, James Rosen and Catherine Herridge contributed to this report.

Remembering D-Day 70 Years Later

ddayinternal15141Hat tip to Fox News for this report

Veterans honor D-Day’s fallen, 70 years later

Men who stormed Normandy’s shore 70 years ago joined world leaders Friday in paying tribute to the 150,000 Allied troops who risked and lost their lives in the D-Day landings in Nazi-occupied France, in a day of international commemorations of history’s biggest amphibious invasion.

They are honoring the troops and civilians who fell in mighty battles that helped bring Europe peace and unity — just as bloodshed in Ukraine is posing new challenges to European security and threatening a new East-West divide.

As the sun rose Friday over a gusty Omaha Beach, flags flew at half-staff. A U.S. military band played Taps, while D-Day veterans from the 29th Infantry Division and serving soldiers stood at attention at exactly 6:30 a.m., the moment on June 6, 1944, when Allied troops first waded ashore.

“Twenty-nine, let’s go!” they shouted, then downed shots of Calvados, Normandy apple brandy.

Hundreds of Normandy residents and other onlookers applauded the veterans, then began forming a human chain on the beach.

World leaders and dignitaries including President Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth II are converging on Normandy to honor the more than 150,000 American, British, Canadian and other Allied D-Day troops who risked and gave their lives to defeat Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich.

The D-Day invasion was a turning point in World War II, cracking Hitler’s western front as the Soviet troops made advances in the east. Overall at least 4,400 Allied troops were killed the first day, and many thousands more in the ensuing three-month Battle of Normandy, which brought the Allies to Paris to liberate the French capital from Nazi occupation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is also in attendance, invited by French President Francois Hollande in a gesture toward the 27 million Soviet citizens killed in World War II.

The D-Day commemorations are also offering a moment to try to reconcile Russia and Ukraine, and Russia and the West.

Putin is meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Deauville on the Normandy coast Friday morning, after meeting Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday night. Ukraine’s president-elect is also coming to Normandy, and there is hope he and Putin may meet, too.

The encounters marked the first time the isolated Russian leader has met Western leaders since pro-European protests in Kiev pushed out Ukraine’s Russian-leaning president in February and Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula.

Back in Normandy, several thousand veterans, family members and others gathered at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, with its 9,387 white marble tombstones on a bluff overlooking the site of the battle’s bloodiest fighting at Omaha Beach, the emotional centerpiece of pilgrimages to honor the men killed in Normandy.

Soldiers of 173rd Airborne brigade, the ceremony organizers, served as ushers, wearing maroon berets. For the ceremony, small U.S. and French flags were placed in the ground at each grave.

Obama declared June 6 a national remembrance day.

In a declaration Friday, he said, “Seventy years later, we pay tribute to the service members who secured a beachhead on an unforgiving shore — the patriots who, through their courage and sacrifice, changed the course of an entire century. Today, as we carry on the struggle for liberty and universal human rights, let us draw strength from a moment when free nations beat back the forces of oppression and gave new hope to the world.”

In addition to the fallen troops, Allied bombardments killed an estimated 20,000 French civilians, and Hollande paid tribute to them Friday in Caen, which like many cities of Normandy was largely destroyed in the bombings.

France has only tentatively come to grips with the invasion’s toll on civilians. The Allied bombings — especially the deadly onslaught in Normandy during the invasion launched on D-Day — were used as a propaganda tool by the Vichy government. But historians now believe that nearly as many French civilians died in Allied air raids as Britons during the German Blitz.

“No one knew that this day would be the first of one of the most ferocious battles of France. This battle was also a battle of civilians,” Hollande said. He said Normandy’s residents “helped the victory happen. They opened their doors to the liberators.”

Ceremonies large and small are taking place across Normandy, ahead of an international summit on Friday in Ouistreham, a small port that was the site of a strategic battle on D-Day.

Today’s conflicts are also on many minds at the D-Day commemorations.

Jeffrey McIllwain, professor at the San Diego State University school of public affairs, will lay a wreath on behalf of educators who have lost students to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — himself included.

He, like many veterans and world leaders here, is concerned about keeping the memory of D-Day alive as the number of survivors dwindles.

He brought 12 students to Normandy for a course on the lessons of D-Day.

“I make them promise to bring their grandchildren to serve as a bridge to the next generation,” he said.
