The Coming Civil War

Obama pushing States towards Secession?

The American Civil War (1861–1865), also less commonly known as the War Between the States (among other names), was a civil war in the United States of America. Eleven Southern slave states declared their secession from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America, also known as “the Confederacy”. Led by Jefferson Davis, the Confederacy fought for its independence from the United States. The U.S. federal government was supported by twenty mostly-Northern free states in which slavery already had been abolished, and by five slave states that became known as the border states. These twenty-five states, referred to as the Union, had a much larger base of population and industry than the South. After four years of bloody, devastating warfare (mostly within the Southern states), the Confederacy surrendered and slavery was outlawed everywhere in the nation. The restoration of the Union, and the Reconstruction Era that followed, dealt with issues that remained unresolved for generations.

In the presidential election of 1860, the Republican Party, led by Abraham Lincoln, had campaigned against the expansion of slavery beyond the states in which it already existed. The Republicans were strong advocates of nationalism and in their 1860 platform explicitly denounced threats of disunion as avowals of treason. After a Republican victory, but before the new administration took office on March 4, 1861, seven cotton states declared their secession and joined together to form the Confederate States of America. Both the outgoing administration of President James Buchanan and the incoming administration rejected the legality of secession, considering it rebellion. The other eight slave states rejected calls for secession at this point. No country in the world recognized the Confederacy.

Mr. President,  we are Americans and we will never surrender to your blatant over reach of power against US.  We have fought on foreign shores to preserve our Freedoms and Way of Life and we will fight right here on our own lands to protect and defend those same Freedoms.

You Sir, are underestimating the Will of the American People.

  1. Good Morning my Fellow American Patriots and Friends ;)

  2. On March 30, 2011, Senator Charles Schumer (D–NY) with 15 cosponsors, including the Senate Majority and Republican Leaders, as well as six other Democratic Senators, six other Republican Senators, and an Independent Senator,[1] introduced in the Senate the Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011 (S. 679). The bill was referred to the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

  3. The bill reduces the number of presidential appointments that require the consent of the Senate and establishes within the executive branch a Working Group on Streamlining Paperwork for Executive Nominations. Individuals nominated to senior executive offices suffer slow and detailed background investigations and mounds of duplicative paperwork before a President sends their nominations to the Senate. After nomination, many nominees suffer time-consuming inaction or time-consuming and excruciating action as the Senate proceeds (or does not) with consideration of the nomination. The sponsors of S. 679 have identified a valid problem, but proposed the wrong solution. Congress should not enact S. 679.

When the delegates of the states gathered in Philadelphia in the summer of 1787 and wrote the Constitution, they distributed the powers of the federal government among two Houses of Congress, a President, and a judiciary, and required in many cases that two of them work together to exercise a particular constitutional power. That separation of powers protects the liberties of the American people by preventing any one officer of the government from aggregating too much power.

The Framers of the Constitution did not give the President the kingly power to appoint the senior officers of the government by himself. Instead, they allowed the President to name an individual for a senior office, but then required the President to obtain the Senate’s consent before appointing the individual to office. Thus, they required the cooperation of the President and the Senate to put someone in high office.

  5. Perhaps we should look a little closer into what Hezbollah is doing near our southern border. It has been reported for over a year that they are there, but we have not even heard a word from the mainstream media. The deliberate neglect of the Obama administration endangers us all and if the violence increases with the drug cartels, the way will be open for them to enter the US if they have not already. The mockery of Obama yesterday in El Paso is just another illustration of the contempt this administration has for the American people. It would not take much to believe that they are aiding our enemies, Especially with the Gunwalker Scandle”, here is a link to Faustas Blog, she has written about this a couple of times:

  10. Freedom, by the way

Wasn’t TX talking of secession? Not seriously, but I believe it had to do with Obamacare. Now TX has even more reason to be upset with the feds besides Obamacare, the border mess, etc. since they were denied FEMA assistance. The states need to take back their original powers of appointing their senators.

  11. I like that Freedom. Give the States back their Power as it was intended from the beginning.

Bit – well, a lot – off the subject, but would be interested in your views on this.
Basically – how best to convey to kids the horror of Stalinism etc – when you don’t have the same iconic sites that exist for Hitler and the Nazis (concentration camps).
What’s the concrete equivalent for the other extreme?

  13. blackwatertown, off the top of my head I am thinking the History Channel online might have actual video clips of some of the mass graves and actual execution from the Stalin era in Russia. Other than that, I just don’t know. Anyone else on here have any ideas?

    @Freedom, by the way

If my understanding is correct, I believe Texas is a Republic. If that is so, they have every right to secede if so desired..
